Post 2: Setting Up to Play

I cleared my big table as best I could this afternoon, put a blue tarp for protection, and set up my 3ft cooking plate to heat the dyes.

I am using 16oz stainless steel tumblers to mix the dye with water.
I have a variety of brushes, both bristle and foam.
I am also heating some white beeswax to use as a resist. I have a Batik pen, and various sizes of brushes.

Post 1: My crazy Chinese Jeans

For a while now, I have been ordering crazy dyed/torn/ripped/patched/printed/studded jeans from AliExpress, the Chinese eBay. I have quite a collection, and these are my favorites:

I like them so much I have a pair of 32's in case I lose weight, and another pair of 34's which I am going to dye black. Actually, that's how this project got started. I watched a few YouTube videos on painting jeans, tie dying jeans, drawing on UGG's with fabric markers, and painting UGG's, and realized I could just paint on different colors with foam brushes. I also realized that I could buy 8oz bottles of RIT dye for just $3 or less and have them shipped free as "Add Ons" to a $25 order. I ended up with about a dozen different colors, and some spray on fixative.

I also have a pair of beige Ugg's that Rachel found at the thrift store for $10, and want to dye them in shades of brown and olive green. I looked on the Internet and found a few painted or dyed Uggs, and a few tutorials on YouTube too:
